Veterans are not only the foundation of Abound's history, but they are also the heart of our communities. They are strong entrepreneurs, starting businesses, promoting growth and laying groundwork for future generations.
In 1950, our Credit Union was founded by ten Military Veterans who contributed $100 each to serve civilian personnel on Fort Knox. For the past 75 years, we have proudly continued this mission, growing and expanding to serve hard-working Kentuckians with essential financial services and personalized care.
At Abound, we are proud of our Military roots. We continue to show our dedication by providing funding and support to organizations that assist the armed forces and their families. Through our Veterans2Entrepreneurs (V2E) Program, we provide valuable resources and mentorship to help Veterans become successful business owners. We also support Textbooks for Troops, a lending library for Military and Veteran students at Western Kentucky University (WKU) who may not receive book stipends or scholarships. Our commitment to education also includes dontating over $64,000 to the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College's Military Education Association (ECTC MEA) to fund career readiness training and textbook assistance for Veteran and Military students.
In addition to these programs, Abound has donated nearly $700,000 to USA Cares. This nonprofit provides emergency financial assistance to post-9/11 Veterans, Service Members and their families, helping them cover essential like housing, utilities and food. It's our way of serving those who so bravely serve us.
That small group of Veterans had a big impact, and their founding vision is why our dedication remains the same: to support the financial wellness of every Member and community we serve.
