Feel good about your credit score, but you're unsure how to keep building? You're not alone. According to NerdWallet1, 50% of Americans state they face barriers trying to improve their credit. These barriers range from low credit limits to simply not knowing where to begin.

The journey to better credit can feel overwhelming, but we've got your back. At Abound, we understand that credit plays a key role in achieving your financial goals. That's why we're committed to providing you with the knowledge you need to keep a strong score.
  1. Always pay your loans on time - Your payment history has the greatest impact on your credit score. To ensure you never miss a payment, set up automatic payments for your loans. A positive credit history shows lenders you're a trusted borrower and increases your creditworthiness.
  2. Keep low balances - It is smart practice to keep your credit utilization under 30%. For example, if your credit limit is $1,000, and you spend $300, that is 30% of your available credit. Additionally, paying our balances in full each month prevents interest from accumulating and can help boost your score.
  3. Keep a revolving credit line - Having a revolving credit line, like a Visa® Credit Card or Line of Credit (LOC), displays how well you manage your credit accounts over time. Keeping these accounts open, even if you're not actively using them, contributes to your credit history length. The more experience you have reflecting on your report of paying your loans on time, the better for your score.
  4. Monitor your credit report - Reviewing your credit report regularly allows you to watch for identity theft and protect your credit score from being negatively impacted by false reporting. If you notice an error in your report, dispute it as soon as possible.
